Network Sites

The map and accompanying table show the location of sites that meet the criteria for inclusion in the Heron Network and details on the location, area, and protected status of all potential foraging and nesting sites in the Heron Network. Many of the foraging sites and nesting sites do not have complete protection.

Table 1. Location of eelgrass meadows and marshes that potentially could support 100 or more herons in the Strait of Georgia and Puget Sound. Map numbers correspond to location on the map. Protected status refers to legislated designations that protect the eelgrass meadows for the use of herons and other wildlife.
